Howdy listers... Well, if you're ever in the Nashville area during
lunch hours, I highly recommend you visit the Station Inn. Pat Isbey
and a friend have started up a lunch cafe there. They have some great
food there.
Today, I stopped by for lunch along with a couple of friends. I ordered
the barbecue pork sandwich and macaroni salad. The meat was as tender
and had a wonderful hickory smoked flavor. Not too overpowering with
the smokeiness and they topped it off with a hot slaw and let me tell
you, get the hot slaw. Really ties it all together. One of my friends
got the "Baloney Sammy", and from the looks of it, it had to be the
thickest slice of balogna I've ever seen on a sandwich! At least, AT
LEAST an inch and a half thick. He reported it had a great flavor and
the macaroni salad had a perfect blend. The other friend got the Hot
Beef. We all agreed that for the money, this was the best deal. Because
there is NO way one person can eat this by themselves. It was stacked
so high that a show pony couldn't jump over it if it had to. Again, the
report is the flavor was outstanding.
Music being played on the system was Marty Robbins. I must admit, the
Station Inn, during the day looks like a crack house amid all the new
construction going on around it. I wouldn't have it any other way
either. With the smoker outside, the smell invades the Station Inn with
a pleasant hickory aroma. The place oozes of character and the food is
both affordable and tasty.
Do yourself a favor and drop in from 11:00 AM till 3:00 PM. There is no
telling who you'll see there. Today, I seen and visited with the one
and only Wichita Rutherford and some of the guys from the band the
Racontours. Very hip place. Go getcha some.
